Sales Pro Needed – JDSupra

by Wayne Willis on March 24, 2011

Aviva Cuyler, CEO and founder of JDSupra, is looking for a Sales Pro to sell into the legal markets.  Any suggestions?

Wayne,

Do you know a sales professional who would help JD Supra grow its client base?  The primary product we sell is targeted delivery of law firm generated content to prospective clients, referrals and media (primary through social media distribution), secondary products include associated bells & whistles (content formatting, analytics, etc.) Our customer base extends from individual attorneys/small firms to some of the world’s largest law firms. See the attached for a fuller outline of our offerings.

The candidate should understand that JD Supra is an innovator in the legal space that is growing very quickly, being the first of its kind to deliver such services, and one of the few companies with whom LinkedIn has partnered. Given our relatively small team, we expect everyone to give 110% - this is not a 9 to 5 job. However, this is an opportunity to join our company on the ground level at a very exciting time in our history, and we have maintained a fun, casual and highly collaborative work environment, while operating within the sedate B2B legal space – which has positively impacted both employee retention and brand perception.

The successful candidate would be given leads generated by the website and marketing programs to address the "individual attorney and small practice" sales opportunities.  And we would expect the candidate to develop his or her own direct relationships with the top law firms (e.g. the "AmLaw 200"), initially in their area and eventually more broadly.  Accordingly, both "inside sales" and "outside sales" skills are required.

We want a mid-career professional who knows how consultative sales of intangible products works.  And familiarity with marketing services, especially for lawyers (or other professionals) is a real plus.  My preference would be a San Francisco Bay Area based person, but a top candidate from New York, Washington, Boston, Chicago or Los Angeles will be considered.

This is full time position with base, benefits and commission designed to produce a minimum of $50k/month in quota (which I expect to be hit), with successful candidates able to earn $90K to $120k within the first year, and significantly more in subsequent years with commission on renewals from previous years’ sales.  (And we have a >96% renewal rate even after three years on file.)

Detailed requirements and likely background are at http://www.jdsupra.com/jobs/sales-executive.aspx and interested parties should send a cover email and resume to jobs@jdsupra.com.  Like most sales professionals, this person will need to set his or her own schedule, establish priorities and be self-directed.

Know of anyone?  Feel free to pass this along to anyone who might know of such a candidate.

Thanks,

Aviva
